Greek Revolution and Philhellenism: A case study on The Siege of Corinth of G. Rossini

In this study, it is attempted on the basis of the exemplary case of the interesting opera “The Siege of Corinth” by T. Rossini, the examination of the mediating role played by art, in particular melodramatic creation, between the European Philhellenic movement in Palinorthos France and the Greek struggle for independence. From a political-social point of view, it is interesting to refer to the ideological-political impact caused in France by the case of Greek freedom, as well as to the socio-political function of art, which functions as a multiplier of loads of ideological dynamics.
